*** URGENT CONSUMER ALERT REGARDING THE FOLLOWING COMPANY NAMES ***

"SD County Lock & Safe"
"San Diego County Lock & Safe"
 "San Diego County Locksmith"

NONE of the above companies are San Diego Lock & Safe™.

There are NO other legal, state licensed locksmiths and/or locksmith companies in San Diego County authorized to use the name San Diego Lock & Safe™, nor to work under our license (CA Lic. LCO3905), nor mandated by us to perform ANY locksmith work under our trademarked name.

*** We are however, looking for customers who have had locksmith work done at any time over the last 9 months, but with a special emphasis on work performed since January 1st, 2006, by any of the above companies.

We are looking for customers who have hired a locksmith company you believed was us; "San Diego Lock & Safe™," but whose receipt/invoice shows a different name, such as: "SD County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Locksmith," or any other business name.  The phone numbers you may have called, or may have called you back in response to a service request, or which may be noted on your invoice/receipt could include: "619-527-4110," or "619-379-6205."
  • If you were misled into calling one of the above wrong numbers, and as a result hired the wrong company, by finding it on the Yahoo! Local listing for our name; "San Diego Lock & Safe™...
  • If you were misled into calling one of the above wrong numbers, and as a result hired the wrong company, based on our reviews at Yahoo! Local, but either of the above numbers were the only ones listed...
  • If you were misled into calling one of the above wrong numbers, and as a result hired the wrong company, based on any source (personal reference, business card, online or print yellow pages listing, etc.)
  • If damage was done to your property by the one of the companies named at the top of the page...
  • If you have a complaint, or wish to complain to the State Licensing Board about one of them...
  • And/or if you can honestly state that you thought you were hiring us; "San Diego Lock & Safe™"...
We want to hear from you!
We are looking for originals or copies of invoices and/or a signed statement or testimony.

The basic details of what's going on, and why we're seeking witnesses, invoices, and additional proof...

An UNLICENSED "supposed" locksmith company, owned by a "Myriam Urias," with an unlicensed locksmith tech named "Carlos," and ostensibly going by the name of "SD County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Locksmith," but advertising using OUR name; "San Diego Lock & Safe™" (conveniently leaving out the "County" part), has hacked into, changed the phone number on, and co-opted many of our advertising outlets over the last several months.  Many of the phone calls customers intended to make to us, have been, and continue sporadically to be redirected outside of our control to this other company.

¹Anyone able & willing to provide a receipt/invoice from "SD County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Locksmith," or other business name with either of the above phone numbers, dated any time over the last 9 month or so period, and willing to make a sworn statement that they thought they were hiring US, will receive a certificate for $50* to $75* in no cost locksmith services provided by San Diego Lock & Safe™ for your assistance and inconvenience.

*The dollar amount of the certificate for locksmith services (scheduling based on availability as with any regular services) will be as follows:
  • Your willingness to provide an original or notarized copy of your invoice alone; $25 in no cost locksmith services provided by San Diego Lock & Safe™.
  • In the event that your invoice/receipt is missing, your willingness to make a notarized, sworn statement in addition to some type of proof of payment to this other company; $50 in no cost locksmith services provided by San Diego Lock & Safe™.
  • Your willingness to make a notarized, sworn statement, in addition to an original or notarized copy of your invoice; $75 in no cost locksmith services provided by San Diego Lock & Safe™.
¹San Diego Lock & Safe™ reserves the right to withdraw this offer and request at any time based on own discretion without further obligation to anyone who has not physically provided us statements or invoices at the time the offer is withdrawn.

*** Keep in mind that this is an UNLICENSED locksmith who has now had access to your home, your business, your auto, and all of your key codes.  We're happy to take a look at the work that was done, and repair or replace it if needed, using the above credit schedule towards the work if you'd like.

Despite the advertising under OUR name, and the continued theft of our advertsing information/outlets, their business card looks like this:

SD County Lock & Safe

We have had reports that this other company, DBA, "SD County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Lock & Safe," "San Diego County Locksmith," is claiming on a random and repeated basis, not only our name, but our website, our reviews on Yahoo! Local, our coupons, and even our license number.

Our good name and reputation has been usurped, and we won't take this lying down... We have a hard earned, and well deserved reputation here in our home town, and we intend to keep it, and to always live up to it.  Period.

Remember, all of our invoices will always state our correct phone number, and our motto, and mission statement: "...We've got you covered ~ Courtesy, Professionalism, Timeliness, Price..."

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, and our sincerest apologies to any of our customers who have had their property and/or pocketbook abused by these unlicensed scam artists.

Any questions, please feel free to call me (Kim Stagg) personally @ 619-757-5559 or viaone of the toll free numbers; 888-LET-SDLS -or- 888-LET-SDLS.  You may also e-mail me personally.

http://www.dca.ca.gov/complainthelp/complfrm.htm

You may fill out the form online by choosing a Mediation Center nearest you in the drop down list, or by clicking on one of the.pdf files, filling it out, and mailing it in to the address shown.

For future reference, and empowerment, please read through the following information regarding hiring a locksmith.

Points to consider when choosing a locksmith:
  • Does the Locksmith you're considering have a Locksmith License, issued by the state of California (required by law), that is current, valid, and in good standing?  Click here to verify the license of any locksmith.  If the state site is down, you may also verify by calling: (800) 952-5210 or (916) 322-4000.  Licensing includes nationwide criminal background checks, fingerprinting, etc.
  • Is the Locksmith you're considering locally owned and operated?  We are proud to say that San Diego Lock and Safe™ is a locally owned & operated business, NOT an outsourced business.
  • Does the Locksmith you're considering warranty their work?  And are they available nights and/or weekends to cover that warranty?
  • Is the Locksmith you're considering one who adheres to a strict 5 day/daytime hours work week?  Or are they available to work around your schedule?
  • Does the Locksmith you're considering come out at no charge and research what you actually need for your commercial work, offer suggestions & explanations, and work to keep you within your budget, rather than quoting high to cover all the possibilities?
  • Is the Locksmith you're considering charging fair and appropriate prices for the work done?
  • Does the Locksmith you're considering have posted, fixed rates for most service call work?
When calling around for prices, make sure you find a locksmith that is currently licensed in good standing to do your work for you - NOT a contractors license, a locksmith license.  California requires one by law.  A Contractors license, while a good thing to have, and required only as an adjunct to locksmith jobs that bill over $500, it is NOT a replacement for, a locksmith license.

Locksmiths are required by state law to post their locksmith license number on all advertising and invoices, etc.  They are required by law to carry the embossed pocket version of their locksmith license issued by the State of California when performing any locksmith related jobs, and to present it upon demand.  They are also required by law to give you the number if you ask for it over the phone, by mail, or by e-mail.  There is a link on most pages of our website that you can use on your own to verify any state required locksmith licenses and its current standing.  (*Each instance of the word "license" in this paragraph is also linked to the state verification site. :)

Remember, locksmiths are the ones that you entrust the safety and security of your home, your business, and your vehicles to.  Isn't it best to hire one that has undergone the state requirements for a nationwide criminal background check, fingerprinting against the Department of Justice database and the FBI, and been issued a license only if all of the above came back clear?
